Lauren Patterson

Lauren Patterson is a Lead Climate & ESG Policy Scientist at ICE and a Senior Fellow at the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability, both roles undertaken since January 2023. Prior to these positions, Lauren served as a Senior Water Policy Associate at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University from October 2013 to January 2023 and worked as an Environmental Scientist at Greene Resources with RTI International from July 2012 to October 2013. Earlier, Lauren acted as a Hydrologic Analyst/Research Assistant at UNC-Chapel Hill from April 2012 to July 2012, focusing on climate and streamflow analysis for a Corps of Engineers project. Additional experience includes a role as a GIS/Financial Analyst at the Environmental Finance Center from 2008 to 2011 and an ORISE Internship as a GIS Analyst with Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 2004 to 2005. Lauren holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geology/Earth Science from Purdue University.
