Risto Vehmas

Risto Vehmas is an accomplished engineer specializing in signal processing, with a focus on radar technologies. Currently employed as a SAR Engineer at ICEYE since March 2022, Risto is part of a team dedicated to enhancing the imaging capabilities of synthetic aperture radar satellites. Prior experience includes serving as a System Analyst at ELETTRONICA GmbH, where Risto worked on electronic warfare techniques; a Research Scientist at Fraunhofer FHR, developing algorithms for space surveillance; and a Doctoral Researcher at Tampere University of Technology, focused on synthetic aperture radar imaging for Risto's PhD. Additional roles include Risto's research at the Finnish Meteorological Institute, contributing to radar system development, and work with the Finnish Defence Forces, developing signal processing algorithms. Risto holds a PhD in Signal Processing from Tampere University of Technology and a Master of Science in Theoretical Physics from the University of Oulu.
