Valerio Pruneri is an accomplished academic and industry leader in the field of photonics. Currently serving as an ICREA Industrial Professor and Group Leader at ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences since September 2006, Valerio holds the Corning Inc. Chair. Valerio co-founded several companies, including LuxQuanta, SIXSENSO TECHNOLOGIES, and Quside, where Valerio serves as a Board Member. Prior to these roles, Valerio was the Head of Basic Research at Avanex Corp.'s Italian branch from October 2000 to August 2006 and worked as a Senior Research Fellow and Pirelli Fellow at the University of Southampton from 1996 to 2000. Valerio earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics specializing in Lasers and Optoelectronics from the University of Southampton between 1993 and 1996 and holds a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (1986-1992).
