Gary Witherspoon

Gary Witherspoon has extensive work experience in the shipping and container industry. Gary most recently worked as the UK Operations Director at Independent Container Line (ICL) since May 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Network Operations Manager at MacAndrews from January 2017 to May 2019. Gary also held the position of UK Intermodal/Marine Manager at United Arab Shipping Company (S.A.G.) from March 2014 to December 2017. In earlier roles, they worked as the Liner Operations/Business Development Manager at Oman Shipping Company from June 2011 to February 2014. Before that, they were a Ship Manager at NYK Group Europe Ltd from February 2005 to May 2011. Gary has also worked at Mersey Docks (MDHC) as a Senior Vessel Planner/Manning, APL as a Ship Manager, Thamesport London Ltd as a Senior Vessel Planner, and Cma-CGM as a Trade/Traffic Clerk.

Gary Witherspoon attended Hundred Of Hoo upper school, where they studied English, Computing, Geography, and Economics. In addition to their education, they obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include a Negotiation certification from The Gap Partnership in June 2022, a PI / PLI Worldwide Assesor certification from Predictive index in March 2012, an IMDG Code certification from IMO in February 2012, and a Diploma in Port Management from Lloyds Maritime Academy in June 2009.
