Josh Patel

Josh Patel is a skilled software engineer with extensive experience in the visual effects industry. Currently at Sony Pictures Imageworks since April 2022, Josh is focused on modernizing legacy applications to suit the needs of senior management. As a Senior Pipeline and Shotgun Technical Director at ICON Creative Studio from May 2019, Josh enhanced ShotGrid efficiency by minimizing server downtime and improving application development. Previous roles include Department TD at Scanline VFX Vancouver, where Josh developed automation tools for artist workflows and managed a team, and Nuke Technical Director at Gener8 Digital Media Corp, where tool development significantly reduced processing times. Josh holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University, a Diploma in VFX from The Art Institutes, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
