Jason Oswald

Associate Scientist at Icosavax

Jason Oswald has a diverse work experience in the fields of research, development, and teaching. In 2021, they began working as a Senior Research Associate at Icosavax, Inc. Prior to that, they were employed at AGC Biologics from 2019-2021, holding roles such as Development Associate III, Development Associate II, Development Associate I, and Contract Technical Writer. From 2018-2019, they were an Assistant Manager at Bainbridge Cinemas. From 2016-2018, they were an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Folsom Lake College, where they established safety protocols and supervised students, as well as prepared class materials and taught Introduction to Chemistry and General Chemistry lectures and labs. From 2013-2016, they were a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Davis, where they used Isothermal Calorimetry to measure the thermodynamic parameters of a conformational shift from closed to opened conformations in Cytochrome P450cam (CYP101) induced by Putidaredoxin (PDX) binding, developed methods to couple engineered substrates onto Self Assembled Monolayers (SAMs) to use Surface Plasmon Resonance(SPR) in CYP101 kinetics experiments, mentored an undergraduate researcher, prepared weekly reports for lab group meetings, and regularly maintained lab equipment. From 2011-2013, they were a Research Assistant at Brigham Young University - Hawaii, where they independently researched the use of a redox sensitive mutant of green fluorescent protein (roGFP) as an analytical tool to detect aqueous SO2 a major pollutant in Hawaii, performed Site Directed Mutagenesis on roGFP, and instructed and supervised the safety of General Chemistry and Molecular Biology labs.

Jason Oswald completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Brigham Young University–Hawaii in 2012. Jason then went on to earn a Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis in 2016.
