For two decades, Edmond covered the world’s largest companies in technology, telecommunications, aerospace and defense as a financial journalist in China and the U.S.
Now, in ICR’s Beijing office, Edmond uses the extensive industry knowledge and media contacts that he developed as a reporter to provide client counsel to Asia-based public and private companies in tech and other industries. Edmond develops strategic PR recommendations and programming, and drives the team’s execution of plans and campaigns.
Since his first visit in 1991, Edmond is well placed to interpret local companies and to help them tell more compelling stories for a global audience. Prior to joining ICR, Edmond was at Bloomberg News for 15 years, including two postings as a foreign correspondent in Beijing. For the last five years, he covered the China technology beat and tracked topics such as computer hardware and software, mobile devices, startups, Internet, cyber security, social media and intellectual property. Previously, he followed the U.S. defense industry for Bloomberg during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Edmond began his journalism career at newspapers in Hong Kong — the South China Morning Post and Hong Kong Standard — before shifting to wire service reporting for Bridge News in Beijing. Edmond received a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Asian History and Chinese Studies from the State University of New York, Albany.
