Chris Pokrana has worked in the nonprofit and higher education sectors since 1997. In 1997, they began as an Administrative Assistant at the Voluntary Action Center of Montgomery County, where they developed a database for the Welfare-to-Work program and maintained and upgraded office computer systems. In 1998, they became an AmeriCorps*VISTA at United Way of Massachusetts Bay, where they improved the technical capacity of funded agencies by assisting them with Y2K assessments and implementing preventive measures. In 1999, they joined Technical Development Corporation as a Senior Technology Consultant, helping nonprofit organizations effectively use technology to support their mission. In 2002, they became Manager of Relationship Management Applications at United Way of America, where they led an initiative to drive the adoption of CRM across the United Way system. In 2006, they joined Points of Light Institute as VP of Enterprise Products & Consulting, managing the development and product roadmap for HandsOn Connect. In 2012, they became Senior CRM Architect at Idealist Consulting and Principal Consultant at MissionHeads, primarily working in partnership with other established consulting firms, managing technical teams and client relationships on Salesforce.com implementation projects for nonprofit and higher education organizations. In 2013, they became Delivery Manager at Attain, LLC. In 2019, they joined Coastal Cloud as a Project Manager/Solution Architect.
Chris Pokrana has a diverse educational background. Chris began their studies in 1993 at Montana State University-Bozeman, where they studied Architecture. Chris then transferred to Virginia Tech, where they completed a BS in Environmental Policy & Planning in 1998. In 2006, they earned an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University.
