Ian Young

Ian Young is a seasoned professional in the field of process chemistry, currently serving as the Senior Director and Head of Process Chemistry at IDEAYA Biosciences since April 2021. Previously, Ian held various roles at Genentech from June 2017 to April 2021, including Senior Scientist and Scientist in Process Chemistry. Ian’s career began at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where significant contributions were made as a Senior Research Investigator II in Discovery Oncology and Process Chemistry from September 2009 to June 2017. Ian's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Western University, obtained in 2007, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Dalhousie University, completed in 2002. Additionally, a postdoctoral fellowship was undertaken at The Scripps Research Institute, specializing in the total synthesis of pyrrole imidazole alkaloids.
