Phyllis Costanza

Phyllis Costanza Phyllis Costanza has spent her career at the intersection of finance and social impact. She is currently Principal and Chief Social Investment Officer at Advanced Portfolio Management’s Social Investment Solutions division, where she leads the development of a Social Index and related funds focused on companies that deliver both strong financial performance and meaningful social impact.

Previously, Phyllis served as Global Head of Social Impact and CEO of the UBS Optimus Foundation for over a decade. Under her leadership, the foundation’s annual giving grew from $10 million to over $200 million. She and her team launched pioneering funding mechanisms, including the first Development Impact Bond in India with Educate Girls, the first Social Success Note in Uganda with Yunus Social Business and the Rockefeller Foundation, and the SDG Outcomes Fund, a blended finance product.

Earlier in her career, Phyllis was Executive Director and a board member at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and served as Manhattan Representative to New York Governor Mario Cuomo. She currently serves as Board Chair of Educate Girls USA, a Senior Advisor to the Education Outcomes Fund for Africa and the Middle East, a Sorenson Global Impact Leader, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Phyllis holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and has lived and worked in Austria, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
