Jim Spadaccini

CEO and Creative Director at Ideum

Jim Spadaccini has held numerous positions in the creative and educational industries. Jim began their career in 1996 as the Director of Interactive Media at The Exploratorium, where they were a major contributor, lead designer, and the manager of the Exploratorium's Website. In 1999, they founded Ideum, a privately-held, creative company based in Corrales, New Mexico. At Ideum, they served as CEO and Creative Director, developing exhibit software, multitouch hardware, and offering design and installation services to museums, nonprofits, and socially responsible companies. In 2005, they became an Instructor for the Graduate Program in Technology-Enhanced Communication for Cultural Heritage (TEC-CH) at USI Università della Svizzera italiana. From 2008 to 2010, they were an Instructor in the Cultural Management Programs at the University of Victoria. In 2010, they became the Principal Investigator for Open Exhibits, a National Science Foundation-funded initiative to develop a library of free and open multitouch-enabled software modules for exhibit development.

Jim Spadaccini attended The New School from 1983 to 1987, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies.
