Erling Svela (MSc MBA AFA)

Erling Svela has extensive work experience in finance and management roles. Erling is currently self-employed as a CFO/Finance Manager/Accounting Manager for hire since December 2018. Prior to this, they worked at IDEX ASA from 2008 to 2018, holding various positions including VP of Finance, VP Finance and Accounting, and VP Finance and Company Secretary. Before joining IDEX ASA, they served as CFO at Thin Film Electronics ASA from 2006 to 2011, CFO and Corporate Vice President at Kitron ASA from 2006 to 2008, CFO at Opticom ASA from 2000 to 2006, Vice President and Group Controller at Elkem ASA from 1996 to 2000, Finance Director at Thorn Norge AS from 1994 to 1996, and Finance Manager for Norway and Denmark at Hewlett-Packard from 1987 to 1994. Erling began their career as an Accounting Manager at Akershus Energiverk from 1985 to 1986 and also briefly worked as a General Manager at KS Byglandsfjord Sag AS in 1986. Overall, Erling Svela has a wealth of experience in finance and management, working for both publicly listed and privately held companies throughout their career.

Erling Svela's education history includes a variety of degrees and fields of study. Erling began their education in 1980 at Statens Skogskole Bygland, where they studied forest operations. In 1981, they pursued a Master of Science degree (Cand Agric) in forestry at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) and successfully completed their studies in 1985. Later, in 1985-1986, Erling attended BI Norwegian Business School, where they completed both a term course in financial management and tax law, as well as an intermediary program in business finance. Moving forward, they enrolled at Henley Business School in 1990, focusing on general management, and obtained an MBA degree in 1993. Lastly, Erling attended the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) from 1998 to 2000 to pursue an AFA degree in Certified Financial Analyst.
