Bas Buurman

Bas Buurman is a Senior Operations Officer for Agri-Commodities at IDH, The Sustainable Trade Initiative, where they focus on sustainable economic development and agri-value chains. With a background that includes roles such as Senior Program Officer for cocoa and Consultant in Sustainability and International Development, Bas has dedicated their career to enhancing transparency and long-term impact for smallholder farmers. They hold a Master of Science in Anthropology & Development Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies from Radboud University Nijmegen, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Cultural Social Work from Hogeschool Zuyd. Since 2015, Bas has leveraged their expertise in conducting qualitative fieldwork and designing research plans to contribute to meaningful change in rural agricultural communities.
