Marcel Vernooij

Marcel Vernooij is the Director of Public Sector Engagement at IDH, where they support and co-design cooperation with governments and international organizations on enhancing living wages and labor conditions for workers and farmers. Prior to this role, Marcel worked at the Permanent Representation of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Geneva, heading the Economic & Development Unit and maintaining relationships with key global organizations such as the WTO and ILO. Marcel has held several leadership positions across various ministries, including roles focused on agribusiness, food security, and sustainable economic development. They earned a Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science from Universiteit Leiden and completed senior management training through a Masterclass Leadership at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
