Samara Barend

Samara Barend is the current CEO of IDION. Samara has worked in various leadership positions in the public and private sector for over 15 years.

Barend began their career as a Government Affairs Director at STV. In this role, they were responsible for representing the company's interests before state and local governments. Samara then served as the Executive Director of the NYS Commission on State Asset Maximization under Governor David A. Paterson. In this role, they were responsible for maximizing the value of state-owned assets.

Barend then joined AECOM as the Senior Vice President, North America PPP Development Lead. In this role, they were responsible for developing Public-Private Partnership projects in North America. Samara then became the CEO of The Performance Based Building Coalition, a non-profit organization that promotes performance-based building codes and standards.

Samara Barend has a Master's Degree from Harvard Kennedy School and a degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
