Sophia A. Muirhead

Sophia A. Muirhead became the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of IEEE in 2019. Prior to joining IEEE, Sophie was the senior vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary at The Conference Board. She was the first chief legal officer and general counsel in The Conference Board’s 100-year history.

Before joining The Conference Board, Sophie was an attorney in private practice specializing in corporate and securities law. She represented underwriters and companies in initial public offerings and other securities-related matters.

Sophie is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. She is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York State Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Board of Directors of the HCF Renovation Foundation, and the Board of Trustees of The Hunter College Foundation, where she serves on the Audit, Pre-Law, and Pre-Business Committees. She received a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. magna cum laude and honors in political science from Hunter College.
