James Irvine

Executive Vice President at IEEE Vehicular Technology Society

James Irvine has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. James started their career at the National Postgraduate Committee in 1992, where they served as the General Secretary. James then went on to work as a Research Fellow and later as a Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde from 1994 to 2003. In 2003, they joined Strathclyde University as a Senior Lecturer before transitioning to the University of Strathclyde as a Reader in 2006. In 2008, they became the President of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society and held various roles within the organization, including Vice President of Publications and Executive Vice President. In 2013, they joined the IEEE Standards Education Committee and served as the Chair of both the Conference Publications Committee and the Committee itself until 2015. Currently, since 2021, they are the Chair of the Products and Services Committee at IEEE.

James Irvine completed a PhD in Electronics from the University of Strathclyde between 1989 and 1992. Prior to that, they obtained a BEng in Electronic & Microprocessor Engineering from the same university, graduating in 1989.
