Allison Marsh is a Contributing Editor at IEEE since January 2013, writing the monthly Past Forward column and serving as a member of the editorial advisory board for Spectrum. Marsh chaired the IEEE History Committee from 2015 to 2016 and was a member from 2013 to 2019, focusing on the promotion of historical information in engineering fields. As an Associate Professor in the History Department at the University of South Carolina, Marsh also co-directs the Ann Johnson Institute for Science, Technology, and Society and directed the Public History Program from 2015 to 2019. Research interests include public understanding of complex engineering ideas through informal education formats. Marsh has contributed to various talks and seminars on science and history, and holds a PhD in the History of Technology from The Johns Hopkins University and dual degrees from Swarthmore College.
