George Zimmerman

Second Vice Chair, IEEE 802 at IEEE802

George Zimmerman is an experienced technology consultant and leader in high-performance communications, specializing in wireline communications and Ethernet standards. Currently serving as the Second Vice Chair for IEEE 802 and the Chair of the IEEE P802.3dg Task Force, Zimmerman is actively involved in the rollout of Single-Pair Ethernet technologies. Zimmerman's extensive career includes roles as an independent consultant, member of TIA TR42 Standards Committee, and past chair of various IEEE task forces. Previously, Zimmerman was the CTO and founder of Solarflare Communications and held significant positions at Aktino, Inc., Pairgain Technologies, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Zimmerman earned a Ph.D. and MS in Electrical Engineering from Caltech and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
