Casey Garnett is an experienced project manager currently leading hazard mitigation plan development and mitigation grant projects at IEM since January 2023. Previously, Casey served as a Hazard Mitigation Specialist, supporting and developing local, state, and tribal hazard mitigation plans. With a strong background at FEMA from July 2018 to January 2023, Casey played roles as a Hazard Mitigation Community Planner and a Hazard Mitigation Floodplain Management Specialist, delivering technical assistance and completing plan reviews. Casey's commitment to disaster response began with AmeriCorps NCCC as a team member serving Spanish-speaking survivors in Puerto Rico. Additional experience includes an internship with Congressman Phil Roe, and research assistant roles in neuroscience and psychotherapy. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sustainability, Security, and Resilience at Ohio University, Casey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland and an Associate's degree from Harford Community College.
