Robert Skinner

Co-CEO, Founding Partner at IEQ Capital

Robert Skinner is a Founding Partner and Co-CEO of IEQ Capital and has served as a financial adviser to wealthy families and institutional investors for over two decades. Mr. Skinner also sits on the Investment Committee at IEQ Capital.

Mr. Skinner began his career at Fidelity Investments in 1995, before joining Merrill Lynch as First Vice President of Investments. In 2008, Mr. Skinner co-founded Luminous Capital, an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm. At Luminous, he served as Chief Investment Officer, Co-Head of Investment Research, and Co-Manager of Portfolio Construction. Luminous Capital managed $5.5 billion of assets when it was acquired by First Republic Bank in 2012. At First Republic Bank, Mr. Skinner served as Senior Managing Director and Wealth Manager.

Mr. Skinner has been named one of "America’s Top Wealth Advisors" by Forbes. In addition, Barron's named him annually as one of “America’s Top 100 Financial Advisors” from 2015 to 2019, and as one of "America's Top 100 Independent Wealth Advisors" from 2015 - 2018. In 2020, Barron's named IEQ Capital one of "America's Top RIA Firms," citing Mr. Skinner as one of the firm's top executives.*

Active in the community, Mr. Skinner serves on the Board of Directors for The First Tee of Monterey County, the Board of Directors of the Pebble Beach Company Foundation, and the Board of Directors of the University of Connecticut (“UCONN”) Foundation, where he also serves on the investment committee. Mr. Skinner is a trustee of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation associated with PGA of America, as well as the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation. Mr. Skinner also serves on multiple private alternative investment advisory boards. Mr. Skinner and his wife actively support the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, the American Heart Association, Pebble Beach Company, the Santa Catalina School, the Stevenson School, the Monterey Museum of Art, and The Boys and Girls Club of Monterey.

Mr. Skinner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Connecticut.
