Nathan Karplus is a seasoned agricultural scientist with extensive experience in plant breeding and research within the seed industry. Currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist for Sweet Corn at Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. since January 2022, Nathan previously held positions at BASF and Bayer Crop Science as a Junior Soybean Breeder, contributing significantly to soybean yield testing and research. Additional roles at Bayer included a Seed Growth Technical Representative and Station Scientist II, where Nathan coordinated university research and conducted field plot studies on seed treatment products. Prior experience at DuPont Pioneer involved management of soybean product development and yield testing programs. Nathan holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Plant Breeding and Genetics and a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy and Crop Science, both from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Field Crops specializes in dent corn research, licensing, and production. The IFSI Sweet Corn Division is focused on research, development, and distribution of a robust portfolio of proprietary sweet corn genetics. IFSI and Seed Genetics, Inc. were established in 1937 and 1988 respectively.
