Commander Abebe Muluneh

Commander Abebe Muluneh serves as the Director of the IGAD Peace and Security Division and the IGAD Head of Mission to Ethiopia since June 2022, representing IGAD in Ethiopia. Prior experience includes a directorial role at the IGAD Security Sector Program from February 2006 to July 2024, focusing on enhancing member states' capacity to combat terrorism and promote regional security. Abebe also held the position of Senior Training Coordinator and Acting Head of the IGAD Capacity Building Program Against Terrorism from February 2006 to June 2010, contributing to the establishment of frameworks for combating terrorism in IGAD member states. Additionally, Abebe managed various training programs at the Ethiopian Police University College from October 1990 to December 2006. Educational qualifications include multiple master's degrees in Peace and Security and International Relations from Addis Ababa University and Uppsala University.
