Senior Vice President, Enterprise Sustainability And Financial Risk at IGM Financial

Andrea Carlson, CFA has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Andrea began their career at Bristol Aerospace as a Contract Manager, where they negotiated contracts with both Canadian and international customers. During their time at Canadian Wheat Board, Andrea served as the Treasury Officer/Senior Treasury Officer, where they issued commercial paper and medium-term notes, developed strategies and policies, and negotiated derivative master agreements. Andrea later became the Director of Treasury Services, working on a team that designed and implemented a new pension plan structure for the company.

Andrea then joined CWB as the Treasurer, where they provided strategic leadership in areas such as foreign exchange hedging, debt financing, liquidity management, and investments. Andrea also played a significant role in corporate strategic planning and business initiatives. Andrea later became the VP of Corporate Finance & Strategy, focusing on the financial aspects of CWB's privatization and securing new bank debt financing for the company.

In 2013, Andrea transitioned to IGM Financial Inc., where they initially served as the AVP of Corporate Responsibility, leading the development of corporate responsibility across the company and collaborating with business leaders to create enterprise-wide CR goals and initiatives. Andrea then became the VP of Finance & Corporate Responsibility, overseeing various functions such as corporate responsibility, capital and liquidity management, financial risk management, and pension plan investments for the IGM Financial group of companies.

Most recently, Andrea has taken on the role of Senior Vice President of Enterprise Sustainability and Financial Risk at IGM Financial Inc. in April 2022. In this position, they are responsible for driving enterprise sustainability efforts and managing financial risks.

Andrea Carlson, CFA has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Finance from the University of Manitoba, which they completed from 1987 to 1992. Andrea then obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute from 1996 to 1999. In 2009 to 2011, they pursued a Leadership certificate in Influential Leader from the Niagara Institute. In 2016, Andrea attended Queen's Smith School of Business for the FEI Canada's CFO Leadership Beyond Finance Program. Additionally, they have additional training in Corporate Responsibility reporting from GRI Training and holds a Certified Wine Steward certification from the International Sommelier Guild achieved in 2012.
