Lorenzo Cotula is a Principal Researcher and Head of Programme for Law, Economies, and Justice at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), having progressed through roles from Researcher to Team Leader since joining in September 2002. Cotula has held various academic positions, including Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde and Visiting Fellow at the University of Warwick. Contributions to legal education as an Honorary Lecturer occurred at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee. Prior experience includes consultancy and internship roles at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Lorenzo Cotula possesses advanced degrees in Law and Development Studies from prominent institutions, including a PhD from The University of Edinburgh and a Master's from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
