Yolanda Becker is a transplant surgeon and the current Scientific Advisory Board Member at IKONA. Yolanda is also a former UNOS President and has held various other prestigious positions throughout their career.
Becker graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007 with their degree in transplant surgery. After graduation, they became the Clinical Curriculum Director at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing the clinical curriculum for transplant surgery residents.
In 2010, Becker was recruited to the University of Chicago to become the Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Surgery. In this role, they oversaw all aspects of the kidney and pancreas transplant program, including surgical procedures, patient care, and research initiatives. Yolanda was also responsible for expanding the program to include living donor transplants.
In 2012, Becker was promoted to Director of Perioperative Surgical Services at the University of Chicago. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of perioperative care for transplant patients, including pre-operative evaluation, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
Becker served as the Education Committee Chair for the American Society of Transplant from 2012 to 2013. In this role, they helped to re-formulate the composition of the Education committee and served as the Chair during the first year of implementation of the new strategy.

Yolanda Becker received their Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Tulane University. Yolanda then attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Yolanda completed their Surgery Residency at Vanderbilt University and then went on to complete a Transplant Surgery Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
