Ashley Hokenson is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in policy and legislative affairs. Currently serving as Deputy Attorney General and Chief of Legislative Affairs at the Illinois Attorney General's Office since July 2019, Ashley previously worked as an Assistant State's Attorney and Legislative Liaison at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office from February 2017 to June 2019, focusing on legislative and policy issues. Prior roles include Staff Attorney for House Republican Leader Jim Durkin in the Illinois House of Representatives and a Staff Assistant in the United States Congress. Ashley holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and a Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School, alongside a Master of Public Policy from American University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics, and Psychology from Duke University. Areas of expertise include criminal law, juvenile law, firearms, restorative justice, and substance abuse law.
