Michele Casey is a Senior Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Fraud Bureau at the Illinois Attorney General's Office, where significant achievements include co-leading a $1.85 billion settlement against Navient, a major student loan servicer. Casey has served as the Student Loan Ombudsman, responsible for borrower education, complaint mediation, and implementing regulations to ensure accurate information about federal student loan eligibility. Previously, Casey was an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and operated a boutique law firm. Earlier career experience includes roles as an Associate Attorney at Wexler Wallace LLP and Sidley Austin LLP, and as a law clerk for the Honorable Terence T. Evans at the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Michele Casey holds a JD from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in English and Women's Studies from Harvard University.
