Dr. Matt Seaton has extensive experience in various roles within the education sector. Dr. Matt began their career as a Radio Dispatcher at the Mt. Carmel Police Department in 1996 before transitioning to the role of Teacher at Mt. Carmel High School in 2001. From 2007 to 2009, they served as Principal at Red Hill High School. Dr. Matt then became Superintendent at Red Hill Community Unit School District #10 from 2009 to 2014. Following that, they held the position of Superintendent at Streator Township High School District #40 from 2014 to 2021. In 2021, they joined Illinois Valley Community College as the Vice President for Business Services and Finance/Chief Financial Officer. Currently, they are the Chief Financial Officer at the Illinois State Board of Education, a role they have held since 2023.
Dr. Matt Seaton pursued their education chronologically starting from 1996 until 2019. Dr. Matt completed an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from Illinois Eastern Community Colleges-Wabash Valley College in 1998. Dr. Matt then continued their studies at Eastern Illinois University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Education in 2001. Dr. Seaton furthered their educational journey by earning a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Eastern Illinois University between 2003 and 2006. Dr. Matt then went on to complete a Specialist in Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Eastern Illinois University between 2007 and 2009. Finally, in 2019, Dr. Seaton obtained their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Illinois State University.
