Nesrin Ozalp

Nesrin Ozalp currently serves as the Founding Department Chair and Professor at Illinois State University since August 2023. With an extensive background in mechanical engineering, Nesrin has held various prestigious roles within the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) since July 2009, including ASME Fellow, Chair and Vice Chair of several divisions, and Associate Editor for multiple journals. Prior academic positions include Full Professor by Courtesy at Purdue University and Professor at Purdue University Northwest, where leadership also extended to chairing the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department. Nesrin's editorial contributions include Editor-in-Chief of Thermopedia and participation in several conference leadership roles. Educational credentials comprise a PhD from the University of Washington and multiple master's degrees from Stanford University.
