Ettiene van Tonder has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of supply chain management and logistics. Ettiene started their career at Unilever in 2005 as a Chemical Supply Manager, and later took on roles such as Customer Facing Service Manager, National Warehousing and Distribution Operations Manager, Logistics Excellence Manager - Africa, and Supply Chain Manager. During their time at Unilever, they achieved significant milestones such as improving customer service levels, reducing operational costs, and establishing warehousing and transport network capacity for growth.
In 2015, Ettiene joined the National Bioproducts Institute as a Supply Chain Manager. Here, they directed a team and implemented strategies to optimize SAP usage, reduce inventory, and improve logistics performance.
Currently, Ettiene works at Illovo Sugar Africa as the Group Logistics Procurement Category Lead, responsible for leading and managing logistics procurement across multiple African countries. Ettiene van Tonder obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, where they studied from 1992 to 1995. Prior to this, they completed their Matric at Garsfontein High School in Pretoria from 1988 to 1991. Ettiene also holds a Masters Certificate in Supply Chain Management, specializing in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management, from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria. In addition to their formal education, Ettiene has obtained various certifications, including "The Complete Skilled Negotiator" from The Gap Partnership in December 2020. Ettiene has also completed a Negotiation Course from Scotwork, a TPM Instructors Course from the Japanese Institute of Plant Maintenance, and the Unilever Future Leadership Course and Unilever Living Leadership Course from Unilever.
