Gavin Parnaby

Gavin Parnaby is a seasoned Principal Deep Learning Engineer and AI Engineer with significant experience in computational biology algorithm development and machine learning. Currently at Illumina since May 2018, following its acquisition of Edico Genome, Gavin has led ML teams and developed algorithms utilizing C++, Python, Keras, and TensorFlow for high-performance secondary analysis. Prior to Illumina, Gavin served as Technical Director at Edico Genome and held various engineering roles at Broadcom and Marvell Semiconductor, contributing to advanced systems architecture and product development in high data-rate systems and automotive technologies. Gavin's foundational work at Solarflare Communications involved pioneering low-power solutions in the 10GBASE-T domain, showcasing a strong expertise in DSP and algorithm innovation. Gavin holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cambridge in Electrical and Information Sciences.
