Michael Ruehle is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in hardware architecture and design, predominantly in bioinformatics and data processing. Currently serving as Sr. Principal Engineer - Development at Illumina since June 2018, Michael focuses on FPGA hardware acceleration for bioinformatics algorithms. Previously, Michael co-founded Edico Genome and served as Sr. Director of System Architecture, where significant contributions included the development of proprietary mapping and aligning algorithms. Additional experience includes roles at LSI Corporation, Tarari, Intel, Nuron, and The Response Group, Inc., encompassing expertise in packet inspection, cryptography, and hardware acceleration. Michael holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
