Chris Esguerra

Chris Esguerra is currently an advisor at illuminate.health. Prior to this, Chris worked as the Senior Medical Director at the Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM). Chris has also previously worked as a member of the North Carolina Healthy Opportunities Pilot Service Fee Schedule Advisory Panel, as well as in various other roles at Blue Shield of California, Project Angel Food, Altopax, Periscope, and Frame Health. Chris is experienced in leading strategic healthcare integration and redesign efforts, and has served on multiple state and national workgroups and committees to integrate and enhance health care delivery.

After completing their undergraduate studies in chemistry at the University of Southern California, Chris Esguerra pursued an MBA in management with a concentration in healthcare at the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. Chris then went on to earn their MD at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and completed a residency in psychiatry at UCLA. Chris is certified by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians in health care quality and management and by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry.
