Mary Reed

Mary Reed is a seasoned education professional with extensive experience in curriculum development and teacher training. Currently serving as the Curriculum Development Manager and IM Certified Facilitator at Illustrative Mathematics since April 2021, Mary focuses on professional learning for teachers worldwide, emphasizing math language routines and problem-based teaching. Previously, as a District Math Specialist/Project Manager for Oakland Unified School District from November 2015 to September 2022, Mary led professional development initiatives that significantly improved performance metrics. Mary also managed the Irvine Foundation grant at East Bay Bridging the Gap Project, aiming to increase college-level math enrollment. Earlier roles include Program Chairperson & Testing Coordinator at Chelsea Career and Technical High School, where numerous programs enhanced student engagement in advanced learning. Mary holds a Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University and two Master's Degrees from Columbia University and Pace University, reflecting a strong academic foundation in government, politics, education, and teaching.
