Toka Hussein

Toka Hussein currently serves as a K-5 Curriculum Specialist at Illustrative Mathematics since May 2023, following a role as a Math Content Specialist at Pearson from July 2022 to April 2023, where expertise in content and assessment for item development and test construction was provided. Prior experience includes serving as a Mathematics Teacher for the NYC Department of Education, implementing over 150 original learning activities aligned with Common Core Standards from July 2018 to September 2022, and functioning as an Instructor & Program Assistant at Baruch College STEP Academy, aiding high school students in the college admissions process from July 2016 to September 2019. Toka Hussein began a career in education as a Learning Leader at NIA Community Services Network, supporting over 60 students in 2014-2015. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Education specializing in Elementary Math from Hunter College, obtained in May 2022, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Childhood Education from the same institution in 2018, alongside a high school diploma from Brooklyn Technical High School earned in 2014.
