Isabelle Maryns

Isabelle Maryns is a laboratory technician at VIB-UGent and the Instituut voor Landbouw, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek (ILVO) since June 2021, focusing on the mechanistic underpinnings and applications of polyploidy through genomics, experimental evolution, modeling, and artificial intelligence. Prior to this, Isabelle worked as a project researcher at InBio.be from February 2008 to February 2020 and as a tour leader at Mambo Reizen between May 2004 and October 2009, guiding trips to various international destinations. Additionally, Isabelle served as a technology expert at VUB's Department of Toxicology, Dermato-cosmetology and Pharmacognosy for a short period in late 2007 and worked as a scientist at Devgen from August 1998 to February 2007. Isabelle holds two master's degrees from Ghent University, one in Biotechnology (1992-1996) and another in Biological and Clinical Engineering Techniques (1996-1998).

Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO) researches the entire food chain, from primary food production to food processing and also the social and economic aspects of agriculture and fisheries. ILVO is an independent governmental research institute, part of the Government of Flanders’ Agriculture and Fisheries Policy Area in Belgium. ILVO’s mission is to perform and coordinate policy-supportive scientific research and the associated public service with the goal of creating sustainable agriculture and fisheries from an economic, ecological and social perspective.
