Robert Baltera is a seasoned pharmaceutical executive with broad business and product management experience. Bob is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Cirius Therapeutics. Prior to joining Cirius, Bob co-founded Hawkeye Therapeutics, a company focused on in-licensing and developing high-quality assets from pharmaceutical companies. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Laguna Pharmaceuticals and Chief Executive Officer of Amira Pharmaceuticals until its $475 million acquisition by Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2011. Prior to his tenure at Amira, Bob held a number of senior management positions over a 17 year period at Amgen.
Bob is also an entrepreneur-in-residence with Frazier Healthcare Partners, a venture capital firm, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Organovo Holdings, Inc., a public biotechnology company, and as an Independent Director of Imago BioSciences, Inc.
Bob earned his B.S. in microbiology and M.S. in genetics from the Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
