Mr. Gordon is a preeminent engineer and inventor. He holds more than 100 U.S.patents, many more worldwide, for breakthrough technologies including those related to analog to digital conversion, instant imaging CT scanning, the fetal heart monitor, and digital Doppler radar. He has often been called the “father” of modern analog-to-digital conversion for his many contributions to the communication and medical instrumentation technologies that help enrich the lives. He was awarded the National Medal of Technology by President Reagan in 1986, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1991, and has received several honorary degrees. He has provided active leadership on several boards in the engineering, healthcare, and education areas. He is the former President and co-founder of Analogic Corporation, and founder and Chairman of the Board of Photo Diagnostic Systems, Inc., a leading company in the PET imaging market and a partner with Telesecurity Sciences in the development of new CT scanning equipment. He remains an active entrepreneurial innovator. He is Chairman Emeritus of the Lahey Clinic and Tufts University.
