Shawn Preston

Shawn Preston has over 25 years of diverse work experience in information security and network services. Shawn currently serves as the Head of Information Security at IMAX, where they developed and executed the global information security strategy. Prior to this role, Preston was the Director of Information Security at IMAX, responsible for managing information security budgets and vendors.

Before joining IMAX, Preston worked at TELUS as a Sr. Security Consultant, where they managed global corporate security policies and compliance. Shawn also worked at Qunara Inc. as a Sr. Security Analyst, performing threat and risk assessments and providing security advisory services.

Earlier in their career, Preston worked at Intellitactics as a Security Consultant, conducting security reviews, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments for international organizations. Shawn also served as the Director of Network Services at Maxlink Communications, overseeing network operations and information security activities.

Preston's experience also includes roles at Metronet AT&T Corporation/Rogers Network Services as a Manager of Network Services, where they re-architected networks for improved reliability and security, and at Atlantic Connect/Hookup Communications, where they founded Atlantic Canada's largest internet service provider network.

Shawn Preston has studied Computer Programming at Acadia University and Electronics Engineering at the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology. They have also obtained the certifications GIAC ISO-17799 from GIAC in April 2011 and CISSP from ISC2 in 2001.
