Wouter van Drenth has extensive work experience in the field of information security and network architecture. Wouter began their career at ING in 1998, where they designed and implemented the internal office and datacenter network infrastructure. Wouter also developed secure network connections to third parties and implemented network services such as DHCP and a global root DNS service. In 2000, Wouter transitioned to KPN/Planet Internet, where they were responsible for designing and implementing perimeter security for corporate customers. Wouter also managed the network infrastructure for the German branch of the internet service provider. In 2001, Wouter joined ING again, this time as a Network Designer. Wouter played a key role in designing and implementing the network infrastructure for ING's retail internet and mobile banking, as well as the perimeter security for network connections to third parties and the internet. Wouter's most recent position was with IMC Trading, where they served as the Chief Information Security Officer. In this role, they were responsible for managing the corporate information security program and overseeing information security risk, strategy, and architecture. Wouter developed a yearly roadmap for control improvements based on maturity and risk assessment, external audits, and laws and regulations. Wouter also designed and implemented the network infrastructure to support electronic trading on financial markets globally, including perimeter security measures such as firewalls and virtual private networks.
Wouter van Drenth pursued their education at Utrecht University from 1992 to 1997, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. Apart from their formal education, they have also attained several professional certifications throughout their career. In 2018, they obtained the Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP) certification from (ISC)². Prior to that, in 2017, they achieved the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification, also from (ISC)². In 2015, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) certification from ISACA, as well as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)².
