Laurent Raets

Laurent Raets is the current Director at Imerys. Prior to this, they were a Research Scientist at Université de Caen Normandie from May 2019 to August 2020. There, they designed and fabricated high performence TP composites based on PEKK and carbon fiber for aeronautical applications. From May 2016 to April 2019, they were a Formulations Scientist at Piercaen Inc., where they developed novel non-lead based radio-protective composite materials for radiation shielding applications (mainly for Nuclear and health industry). Laurent also optimized the processing parameters and increased the yield of the production from 40 % to 80%. Laurent has experience in wet chemical synthesis of Bi2Te3 based thermoelectric nanomaterials to enhance ZT. From November 2010 to August 2012, they were a Chemistry Instructor at St. Xavier's College, Maitighar, where they tought chemical kinetics and chemical thermodynamics to undergraduate students. Laurent also managed and supervised laboratory classes. From October 2012 to February 2016, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at Université de Rouen. From September 2009 to August 2010, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at Université de Rouen.

Laurent Raets has a PhD in Polymer Science from Université de Rouen and Master's Degrees in Materials Science and Engineering and Physical Chemistry from Université de Rouen and Tribhuwan University, Nepal, respectively.
