Elizabeth Clarke

Elizabeth Clarke is the founder and CTO of Industrial Microbes, a company that designs and builds microorganisms. Elizabeth is also a scientist who has worked for LS9, Inc., where they served as a key member of the team that delivered a green chemical to Proctor and Gamble ahead of technical milestones. Clarke has developed a specialization in targeted genome engineering and random mutagenesis, and has led a team to improve methods for whole-cell random mutagenesis and characterization of resulting strains. Elizabeth has co-authored four patent applications, two covering evolved enzyme variants for improved activity or altered substrate specificity, and two covering genome modifications for improved product composition and yield.

Elizabeth Clarke has a PhD in Biophysics from the University of California, San Francisco and a degree in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley.
