Elena Cañas Silva

Elena Cacchillo has extensive experience in chemistry and research, having served as an Organic Chemistry Laboratory Teaching Assistant and an Undergraduate Researcher in Bioorganic & Nucleic Acids Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis from August 2019 to May 2022. Additional roles included a Teaching Assistant for the Women in Science Ampersand Program and a General Chemistry Laboratory Course Mentor. Elena also gained practical experience as a Research Scientist and Organic Chemistry Intern at MediBeacon Inc. and as an Undergraduate Researcher in Immunology at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Currently, Elena is pursuing an MD/PhD as a MSTP Fellow at the University of Michigan Medical School, building on a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from Washington University in St. Louis. Elena completed pre-university education at Benet Academy, graduating with a High School Diploma in 2018.
