Scott Woodthorpe has had a diverse work experience in the field of media and broadcasting. Scott started their career in 2006 as a Deputy Chief Sub-editor at Press Association, where they proofread and edited TV listings. In 2007, they joined Lincs FM Group as a Football commentator, covering Grimsby Town games. From 2011 onwards, Scott worked for the BBC as a Football commentator and reporter, providing full solo 90-minute commentary and match reports for Grimsby Town games. During their time at the BBC, they also worked as a Football reporter for BBC Radio Kent and as a Chief Sub-Editor for Immediate Media Co. In 2016, Scott worked as a Proofreader at UYR Ltd, where they checked print and digital literature copy. Most recently, they have been working as a Mariners TV Reporter for Grimsby Town Football Club since 2022. Overall, Scott has gained extensive experience in sports commentary, reporting, proofreading, and editing throughout their career.

Scott Woodthorpe earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in New Media Journalism with Radio Production from the University of West London from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they pursued a Media Production Advanced GNVQ at Grimsby College from 1999 to 2001.
