Jonathan Barrales serves as the Program Director and Support Services Manager at the Immigrant Defenders Law Center since October 2015, focusing on advancing social justice for marginalized immigrant and refugee communities in Southern California through legal services and community empowerment. Prior to this role, Jonathan founded the Community Sketches Collective, which showcased local artistic talents and promoted community awareness, and worked as a community organizer at Eastside Cafe to foster solidarity in the El Sereno area. Additional experience includes roles as a relocation agent at DRA Inc, co-founder of the El Sereno Bungalows Collective, and assistant to a senior attorney at Barrales Law. Jonathan holds a Master of Arts in Education from USC Rossier School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from California State University, Los Angeles.

The Immigrant Defenders Law Center is a non-profit law firm established in May of 2015. Our staff is comprised of attorneys and advocates from the immigrant rights community who collectively have decades of experience fighting for the rights of immigrants in Southern California and beyond. The Immigrant Defenders Law Center advances social justice for Southern California’s most marginalized immigrant communities through legal services, community empowerment, and advocacy for adults and children in immigration custody and their families. The Immigrant Defender Law Center’s objective is to preserve families and communities by empowering individuals to know their rights in the immigration system, providing access to legal representation, and advocating for social change.
