James Hsieh

James Hsieh has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. James started their career as a Systems Support Engineer at Sun Microsystems, where they provided on-site hardware and software support for Fortune 500 companies. James later became a Senior Engineer, handling escalated service issues, providing training, and offering engineering support for Sun's Mid-Range UNIX server line.

Over the years, James held various roles at Sun Microsystems, including Staff Engineer, where they focused on overall product quality and customer issues, and Staff Engineer in the Product Technical Support Strategic Solutions group, where they developed technical training materials and defined future product requirements.

Later, James worked at Oracle America as a Principal Engineer, addressing product quality and customer concerns for Oracle's server line. James also served as the Principal of Stickman Computing LLC, running their consulting business.

James then joined State Street Global Advisors as the Database and Systems Design Sr. Manager, overseeing a team providing support for UNIX platforms hosting database and application functions. James also managed the implementation of the organization's Big Data initiative.

At Joyent, James served as the Customer Support Manager and Technical Support Engineer, managing the Customer Support organization and overseeing support services for the company's cloud and on-premises customers.

James then transitioned to the role of Vice President of Client Support at BigID, where they built and managed a support organization, developed processes, and improved infrastructure. James also influenced product serviceability and launch readiness through improved support and documentation requirements.

Before joining Palo Alto Networks as the Sr. Manager and Supportability Architect, James worked as the Director of Client Support at BigID, where they built a support organization from scratch and provided advanced technical support.

Currently, James holds the position of Senior Director, Technical Support at Immuta.

James Hsieh earned a BSE in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan in the years 1985 to 1989. James then went on to study Applied Mechanics and Engineering Sciences at UC San Diego from 1989 to 1991, though no specific degree was mentioned.
