Mark Barnes-Ricketts has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and sectors. Mark started their career in 1973 as Chief Officer Unlimited at P&O Maritime, where they worked until 1981. Mark then became the CEO and Co-Founder of Campaign Free Newspapers Ltd at Newsquest from 1981 to 1993. In 1990, they joined The Church of England as a Ministry Team Facilitator and Theology Student, and stayed there until 2004. From 1998 to 2019, Mark worked at the Department for Education, where they held various roles including Education Technology Research, Teacher, and Lecturer in Mathematics, Religion, and Philosophy. In 2014, they became the CEO of QIARK at impactRI Ltd and continues in that position. In 2020, Mark also took on the role of Visiting Professor of Crowdsourcing, Management, and Collective Intelligence at Zealand - Sjællands Erhvervsakademi.
Mark Barnes-Ricketts began their education at Cardiff Metropolitan University from 1974 to 1980, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Nautical Science - APL with a focus on Marine Transportation. Mark then went on to study at the University of Oxford from 1996 to 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor of Theology Hons (Oxon) in the field of Theology. Additionally, Mark pursued further education at the University of Gloucestershire in 1997, completing a Post Graduate Certificate of Education with a specialization in Mathematics, Religion & Philosophy. Mark also attended the University of Birmingham from 1998 to 2003, earning a Master's Degree in Education in Professional Studies, with a focus on Internet Technologies in Educational Management.
