Kara Owens

Kara Owens is an advisor at ImpactKarma and a previous company, Cowbell. Kara has also worked as an independent board observer. Kara has a long history of working in the field of global executive underwriting, first at Markel from April 2018 to May 2021, then at TransRe from May 2010 to March 2018, where they were the global head of cyber. Kara also worked as an owner at Kara Owens Consulting LLC from August 2021 to June 2022. Prior to that, they were a senior risk analyst at Guy Carpenter from February 2008 to April 2010 and a construction group - casualty summer associate at American International Group from June 2007 to August 2007. Kara began their career as an intern at Engle Martin & Associates from January 2006 to December 2008 and then as a summer intern at The Graham Company from January 2004 to December 2005.

Kara Owens has a BA in Risk Management and Insurance as well as Marketing from the Fox School of Business at Temple University. Kara also has a degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Bond University. Kara Owens has also completed a certification from Cornell University in Executive Women in Leadership and another certification from Berkeley Law Executive Education in Sustainable Capitalism & ESG Online.
