Pulakesh Mukherjee

Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Imperative Science Ventures

Pulakesh Mukherjee has held various roles in the corporate world since 2002. Pulakesh began their career as a Research Scientist at BASF SE, and then moved to BASF in 2005 as a Business Developer, responsible for business development, marketing and sales of specialty chemicals. From 2009 to 2019, they were a Principal at BASF Venture Capital, where they invested in start-up companies worldwide. In 2012, they became a Board Member for Allylix (Acq: Evolva SA), Luca Technologies, and Solidia Technologies, Inc. Pulakesh also served as a Board Observer for Arcadia Biosciences from 2010 to 2012. In 2017, they became a Board Member for ESS, Inc. and in 2019, they became Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Imperative Ventures.

Pulakesh Mukherjee completed their PhD in Chemistry from Stanford University between 1995 and 2000. Pulakesh then went on to pursue a Post Doctoral Research in Asymmetric Synthesis from University of Basel between 2000 and 2002. Pulakesh also obtained an M.Sc in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur between 1992 and 1994. In 2009, they attended the Venture Capital for Executives program at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
